LGE Position Paper on European Competitiveness
Europe stands at a crossroads. The Clean Industrial Deal has the potential to drive a fair and competitive transition—but only if it embraces all viable energy solutions. As we highlighted in our recent op-ed:
"Industries reliant on high-temperature processes—such as ceramics, glass, chemicals, and food production—cannot electrify at scale in the short term. Many of these sectors, often located in rural areas, already face some of Europe’s highest electricity prices, making further burdens unsustainable."
This position paper reinforces the urgent need for technology-neutral policies that recognize the role of renewable liquid gases in decarbonizing industry, transport, and heating, particularly in rural areas. BioLPG and renewable DME offer immediate, scalable CO₂ reductions while safeguarding energy security and industrial competitiveness.
Policymakers must act now to ensure the Clean Industrial Deal leaves no industry, no business, and no rural community behind.
