Joint statement: EPBD, Recognise sector coupling solutions to foster demand-side flexibility of buildings

As part of the revision of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), We, alongside12 industry associations, are urging for an ambitious and forward-thinking definition of demand-side flexibility. The signatories express support for the proposed definition of "demand-side flexibility" in the ITRE report, but also believe that there is room for improvement prior to the plenary vote in March. In anticipation of the vote, the industry groups are calling on MEPs to acknowledge the importance of sector coupling solutions, such as hybrid heat pumps and smart cogeneration, in the definition of demand-side flexibility. This recognition is crucial for unlocking the full potential of smart buildings.
